Granville is located in the Manche region of the north west of France on the Cotentin Peninsula. Formerly a small fishing town, Granville has now been transformed into a fashionable seaside resort with holiday makers flocking to Granville and the nearby island of Chaussey to enjoy the summer sun. |
Granville has a lot more to it than just long stretches of sandy beaches and beautiful seaside, the town is steeped in history which is evident from the old walls and ramparts still fortifying the old town. Granville has also a unique feel to it with interesting granite houses and cobbled streets. |
You can also visit the nearby island of Chaussey which is home to a number of granite quarries whose stone was used to build Mont St. Michel and various other streets and buildings in Paris and London. |
Granville offers a number of activities to keep the tourists amused ranging from fishing to casinos. With plenty of waterfront restaurants serving excellent local produce including fresh catches of seafood, you can relax with a nice meal and fantastic views across the bay of Mont St. Michel and the isle of Chaussey. Granville also offers a range of accommodation facilities to suit every budget, mostly in the new town. |
